The Ogden Mustangs are thrilled to announce the signing of Goalie Owen Yancey for the 2022-23 season. Owen spent last season with Philadelphia Hockey Club in the USPHL Premier. Yancey has been a standout goalie wherever he has played and the staff is ready for him to defend the Mustangs cage.
Yancey is an extremely competitive goalie who expects success for both the team and for himself. “My personal goal this season is to help lead the team to a National Championship.” states the Gilbertsville, PA native.
Coach Orlando has had eyes on Owen for the last couple of seasons as he came up through the ranks in AAA hockey in PA. “Owen is the whole package. He is understanding, driven, respectful, and a great teammate. We know he will help this team develop and win hockey games. I appreciate how coachable he is and see the willingness to improve his game. When he’s in the net, there is a feeling of relief amongst the staff as we’re confident he will stop the first shot, and he never gives up on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th chances. The Ogden fans will love his style of play.”
When asked about his game in the crease, Owen says, “I’m quick, smart, and calm.”
He continues, “I chose the Mustangs because of the amazing atmosphere of the rink and the very knowledgeable coaching staff.” Yancey now joins Hirschfield in the crease, making the Mustangs net an area of strength going into every game.
