RIGOOOO! The Ogden Mustangs welcome Defenseman Rigo Aceves for the 2022-23 season.
Aceves joins the team after playing with the LA Jr. Kings U18AAA for the last two seasons. “When I first went to Ogden, got a chance to see all they offer and the city around it, it felt like home. It’s definitely a place that I am excited to play in.” states Aceves.
Over the last two seasons Rigo has proved his two way style with countless amounts of big hits, blocked shots, and creative plays for scoring opportunities. Aceves adds, “I consider myself a 2-way defenseman. I can score and make plays but also block shots and be the physical presence that the team needs.” Aceves netted 26 points in his 57 games this season while being the assistant captain of the team.
“Rigo is an intriguing hockey player” states coach Orlando. “He brings assets to the table in all three zones which strengthens our back end. I like his heavy style and he doesn’t back down from anybody. It’s always a plus when a Dman can snap the puck like him as well.” The staff is looking forward to working with Aceves next month.
“My personal goals for the season are to become a more well-rounded player and be a contributor in all three zones“ Aceves concludes.
