The Ogden Mustangs welcome high energy Forward Scott Slayback from Southern California. Last season Scott played for the Philadelphia Little Flyers U18AAA. Slayback is excited to play in Utah, stating, “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the program and it’s close to home. I feel like it’ll be a great place to grow both as a player and person.”
Coach Orlando had eyes on Slayback for the last two seasons both when he was with the Flyers and the Anaheim Ducks U18AAA. “Scott is a player that will pick up the pace of our group. You will never question his work ethic and I expect him to challenge every player, every day. He is a character and mild-mannered guy who always wants to be better. I like his playmaking abilities and see him bringing value to our group of forwards.” Slayback netted 26 points in 75 games throughout his U18 career between the Flyers and Ducks programs.
Scott takes pride in his style of play, “I’d consider myself to be a two way playmaker. I like making plays but I also backcheck and forecheck, doing all the little things effectively.” The Mustangs are well-known for developing the “whole” player, not just the on-ice product, “one of my main goals is to grow as a player both mentally and physically” states Slayback.
