A familiar face!

A familiar face! The Ogden Mustangs are proud to announce the signing of Cole Wilmert for the 2022-2023 season. Cole spent last season split between the Mustangs youth program and a Mountain Division competitor, the Provo Riverblades.

“As a kid, I grew up in Ogden and I would go to Mustang games with my parents all the time.

I played for the Junior Mustangs and to think I’m going to play on the junior team this season still blows my mind.”

Coach Orlando has had years of interaction with Wilmert and is ready for him to join the team. “Cole is a good kid, very likeable and coachable so it will be an easy transition to fit in with the locker room. He brings a heavy side to the game and when he plays mean, he can really change a game. We want to push his efforts towards a more consistent game and to become someone we can utilize more often.” states Kenny.

Cole adds, “My style of hockey is more of a power forward by touching pucks first in the corners, making contact, and blocking shots in the D zone.”

Wilmert produced 1 goal and 5 assists in his 13 game stint with Provo last season. He looks to build on that with the very strong forward group of the Mustangs which will challenge him every day. “Cole using his size to his advantage is going to be key. He’s got a long stride, reach, and good puck protection skills. I want to see him lean into those assets early on” says Coach Orlando.

Cole sees the potential in the Mustang group and is ready to get to work, “My goal is to work with the team and bring home a Championship. I know we can do it.”
