NAHL Draft Pick Hirschfield Signs with the Stangs

OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Trey Hirschfield for the 2021-22 season.

Hirschfield (Littleton, CO) joins Ogden after last playing for the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks last season in the NA3HL. Hirschfield has been on the Mustangs radar for quite some time and officially announced his signing along with six other players during the 2021 Ogden Mustangs Summer Tryout Camp in Ogden, UT. Earlier in the same week, Hirschfield was selected in the 7th round of the 2021 NAHL Draft by the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks.

"The [Ogden Mustangs Summer Tryout] camp was awesome and top-notch all around. Everything from the coaches, to the rink and the fans -- it was all amazing. The camp really got the players excited for the season."

Checking in at a staggering 6-6, 165 lbs, Hirschfield was a standout amongst his peers both on the ice and off of it. A cerebral netminder, his abilities allowed him to cruise through the first two days of Ogden's Camp while only allowing a single goal until Sunday. The 02' Colorado native posted a 2.93 GAA, .903 SV% and 6-5 record during 2020-21. One year prior while playing for Valor Christian High School, Hirschfield was a nightmare matchup all season long with a 1.50 GAA, .935 SV% and 10-1 record. Then during the 2020 Colorado High School State Championships, his game elevated to another level with a dominant 0.27 GAA, .986 SV% and a perfect 3-0 record en route to a State title.

"I am always looking for ways to better my game. The coaches in Utah want the best for us as players and will help us all develop for the next level. I’m excited to not only grown my game but be a part of a great group of guys who will always give 110% on and off the ice."

Head Coach Kenny Orlando and Assistant Coach Nick Dreyer have put together an excellent roster and now find their guy to man the crease in Ogden.

“Trey was an easy choice to take on the starting role in the Mustangs crease for the 2021-2022 season. His size speaks for itself, but he backs it up with punctuality on pucks and always presets himself square to the shooter. He is a character guy who expects to get better every day and holds himself to a higher standard. This will make everyone around him better. We are looking forward to working with him.”

The first goaltender to sign with the Mustangs for the 2021-22 season, Hirschfield is a big get and will help Ogden shutdown arguably the most difficult division in the USPHL Premier.

"I am just really excited to be a part of a first-class organization like the Mustangs. Every level of junior hockey teaches us something and I can’t wait to see what the future holds in Utah."
