OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Jack Jones for the 2021-22 season.
Jones (Waconia, MN) was an integral member of the defensive core and leadership group that made up the Mustangs last season. A voice of the group, his charismatic personality and hard-nosed playing style were a driving force for the highly-competitive Mountain Division's youngest team in 2020-21. His return signals the beginning of what is expected to be a great recruiting season for Ogden. "It's an amazing feeling to be back in the Mustangs organization. I'm excited to get back on the ice and finish what we started."
The 6-2, 185 lbs two-way defenseman registered 9 goals and 15 assists in 42 games last season for Ogden. In early January, Jones was selected as an assistant captain and his 91 hits led all players in the Division.
With the return of Jones now complete, Head Coach Kenny Orlando was quick to share his excitement and expectation heading into next season.
"We're thrilled to get the chance to work with Jack again. The expectation for him is to continue being a leader and an example for the new recruiting class joining the organization next season. He'll be pushed every day to ensure that he earns a spot in NCAA hockey while finishing his junior career playing at his best level."
The offseason for Jones will have him prepared to get right back to work and finish what the Mustangs started.
"A lot of ice time and workouts going to train harder than ever to be the best I can be in the Mustangs sweater. I'm going to push myself harder than ever to get the Mustangs back on top and get the redemption tour started."
