Zito is Back; Five Signed for the Stangs

OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Stanford Zito for the 2021-22 season.

Zito (Murray, UT) made a name for himself last Summer following a spirited bout in the inaugural Ogden Pre-Season Tryout Camp. His demonstrative effort and versatility for an '03 was too attractive pass up and he quickly became a fan-favorite with his physical presence on the ice. "The decision to sign [with the Mustangs] was an easy one. There is a great staff and ownership involved with the organization along with the best fans in the USPHL. It makes Ogden a great place to play."

The local product produced 5 points in 28 games while battling several injuries over the course of eight months. His rugged style saw him begin the season as a forward before reverting back to defense. Given his fearlessness and willingness to defend his fellow Mustangs, Zito solidified himself as a staple for Ogden and is expected to have a big season in '21-22.

"I'll be focusing a lot on getting bigger, faster, and stronger. That way I can keep my body in top shape to play the best I can in whatever position I'm playing."

Head Coach Kenny Orlando has been red hot this week. Now inking his fifth returning player and retaining a strong foundation for next season.

"Getting Stanford back adds a lot of strength and simplicity to our defensive unit. He strives to be better every day and brings a competitors mindset to the ice all year long. We've seen great growth in Stanford over the last season and expect that to continue through the 2021-22 season."

Zito echoes everything that his teammates have said since signing with the Mustangs in the past week: Championship or bust.

"The fans can really expect a good, fast paced hockey team ready to bring Ogden its first championship."
