Mustangs Go Big Again; Heavily Recruited Voyatzis Signs

OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Dmitri Voyatzis for the 2021-22 season.

Voyatzis (Fountain Valley, CA) is joining Ogden and moving up to the junior level after several exceptional seasons in the Anaheim Jr. Ducks program. He is another player that will jump into the lineup and make an impact immediately. His style of hockey is complimentary to the fast-paced brand that Ogden brings to the ice and will bring another edge to the team dynamic.

"My Summer was very fun; I was training and skating almost everyday for 2-3 hours. I came to the Mustangs because it looks professionally ran and I think we can win a National Championship this year."

The promising young forward from Southern California is officially listed at 6-1, 195 lbs and is another big, physical and versatile forward that can move fluidly throughout the lineup. During the 2020-21 season, Voyatzis scored 35 points (6th) in 47 games with Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U AAA en route to capturing the 2020-21 USA Hockey Tier I 18U Pacific Division Championship. His willingness to battle and "muck it up" in the corners will be on display when he takes the ice.

"I go to work to down low and win a lot of battles in the corner, carry a heavy shot, my vision on the ice is really good I can win face-offs and I do my best to be a great teammate. I’m looking forward to scoring goals and do whatever it takes for the team to win."

There are players that come up in a scouting report at opportune times throughout the year. However, Voyatzis is a player that Head Coach Kenny Orlando and his staff have been keeping a close eye on for a long time and they finally got their man.

"We are very excited to get going with Dimitri. Our staff had our eyes on him for the entire 2020-2021 season while he was in Anaheim. He possesses the playmaking ability and IQ that make him difficult to play against in all three zones. He is a great supplement to the highly skilled and critical thinkers we have among forward group already. We expect Dimitri to come in and make an immediate impact."

For Voyatzis and his fellow teammates, this season's hype continues to build as training camp looms near and he intends to make his mark in Mustangs history.

"Fans should be watching for me to make plays, score goals and throw the body around most of the time."
