Hawks Ready for More; Soars to Ogden

OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Cameron Hawks for the 2021-22 season.

Hawks (San Diego, CA) returns to Ogden for his second season of duty. His first season in the blue and red showed plenty to be excited about when announcing his signing during the Mustangs Summer Tryout Camp in mid-July. A very responsible two-way defenseman, Hawks and his fellow defensemen provide Ogden with a reliable and steady backend for Ogden heading into the 21-22 season.

"Playing here in Ogden is a unique once-in-a-hockey career experience. I am thankful for the Coaches, Owners, Staff, and especially the Mustangs fans. The atmosphere for home games, road trip memories on the team bus, and the Mustangs proud history of player advancement make it an easy decision to return."

The 5-10, 190 lbs smooth-skating defenseman posted 3 goals and 8 assists in 37 games played after joining in late October last season. Hawks will be a crucial piece to the puzzle as the Mustangs are a dangerously quick and high-tempo team that transitions from defense to offense in a flash. Not only does Hawks defensive prowess allow others to jump up into the attack, but his offensive game will look to flourish in an expanded role this season. Logging 18:32 average TOI last season, Hawks will be called upon to elevate his games against the rival top lines that Ogden will face.

"We have a good core returning from last year. Along with that, Coach Kenny and Nick signed some elite talent from the Mustangs tryout camp. I believe we have all the pieces in place to win a Mountain Division championship and make a Nationals run."

The addition of Hawks now pushes the returning player count to 11 from last season. Head Coach Kenny Orlando shares his thoughts on adding the veteran defenseman back to the fold for one more season.

"Cameron is a big piece to our defensive core and we are happy we have him coming back for his 2nd season as a Mustang. His puck-moving abilities and 200-foot IQ help him excel at our level. We look forward to pushing Cam to earn his deeply desired NCAA commitment by the end of the season."

When asked what the mindset is for the Mustangs after an early playoff exit last season, Hawks answer needed only two words.

"Revenge tour".
