Bartell returning for 2019-20

Ogden Mustangs forward Bryson Bartell will return for his fourth season with the team and final season of junior hockey in 2019-20.

Bartell had a breakthrough season for the Mustangs last season, making some monumental strides from his first season, to second season, to third season in Ogden. He had 13 points in his rookie season with the Mustangs three seasons ago. He more-than doubled that point total in his second season, racking up 28 points. He started last season with the Maryland Black Bears in the NAHL, then came back to Ogden and picked up 18 points in his first 20 games. He finished the regular season with 58 points in 47 games. He was sixth in team scoring. He once again more-than doubled his point total from his second season to his third season.

Bartell is the highest-scoring Mustang returner this season.

“I’m ready to dangle, snipe and celly,” Bartell said.

A man of few words when asked about how he’s feeling about this coming season, he did also add: “I’m pumped.”

From Durham, New Hampshire, Bartell stands at 6-feet-1-inch and 185 pounds. He’s got good speed and incredible hands. His puck-handling skills could be the best in the WSHL.

Bartell also has an incredible shot: accurate and hard.

Bartell proved last season that he can step up in key moments. In a touch mid-season series on the road at Oklahoma City, Bartell led the team in scoring with six points in the three games.

He can also hold his own when dropping the gloves.

Bartell has 110 points in 138 games in his Mustang career. That’s the 15th-most points in franchise history. He needs 23 points to pass Ian Currie and enter the Top 10 scorers of all time. He needs 54 points to pass Ammon Anders and enter the Top 5 scorers of all time.

Bartell is the 10th returner from last season’s team now whose return has been announced. He is the 22nd player announced so far on the Mustangs’ 2019-20 roster.
